Welcome to the Midnight Sun Solar Race Car Team from the University of Waterloo.

Formula Sun Grand Prix 2009   2009-05-28 09:45:09

In the past months, the team has been incredibly busy travelling to shows and community displays with Midnight Sun 9, which was supposed to be retired and turned into a display vehicle after NASC08. However, the Formula Sun Grand Prix, which used to be an annual track race but had stopped after 2005 due to the lack of funding, was reinstated and therefore team decided to refurbish Midnight Sun 9 to enter race.

Scrutineering will take place from June 1-2, and the actual race will take place from June 3-5 at the Motorsports Ranch in Cresson, Texas. A variety of modifications have been made in order to prepare MS9 for this race including enhanced driver controls, more reliable mechanical components, and an improved electrical system.

The team looks forward to entering this race as the sole Canadian entry. We have started packing up and preparing for the long drive down to Texas, and will be leaving Waterloo on Friday night.

Crossed the finish line!   2008-07-22 17:33:47

We have arrived in Calgary and were the second team to cross the finish line! We are also the first Canadian team to finish the challenge!

The results have been tabulated and Midnight Sun is officially 4th overall. In first place is Michigan, second is Pricipia College, and third is Bochum. We were only about 12 minutes behind Bochum! Great work team!

Thank you to all our sponsors and supporters for helping us make this happen!
